A New Way Forward

Craftsmanship matters. Without it your house looks just like everybody else’s house. Your porch sags, the ceilings crack, the foundation slides, the pipes leak. Your business’ home on the web matters. It’s the front porch of your business: where people come and decide if your business is worthy of trust, not only by the unique beauty of your site, but also by its function and usability. Your digital front porch should be inviting, with great curb appeal, and rock solid engineering-strong enough to handle the crowd of guests on your doorstep.

For years websites have been crafted by one of two camps: highly technical development firms that focused too much on technology and not enough on usability and sex appeal or designers and advertising agencies crafting beautiful designs that were implemented with bloated code, little SEO value, and didn’t render accurately across all browsers. Each camp focused on staying on the cutting edge of their primary competency while maintaining the other just enough to get through each project. Meanwhile the client is left with a half baked website.

Why doesn’t the web development industry approach creation the way other industries do? When you build a house you don’t hire the plumber to develop the blueprints, a general contractor to lay the tile, or a painter to lay the foundation. You hire a trained craftsman to perform the task he or she is passionate about.

CodeBrick was founded on the idea that there is a different way, a new way to approach website creation. We focus exclusively on staying at the forefront of the technologies that power the web. We don’t design websites, instead we partner with cutting edge designers and advertising agencies to deliver our clients with a best of breed website. One that is not only beautiful to look at but that is highly accessible by all visitors and search engines, downloads in a flash, and is maintainable.

It is our hope that this blog will serve as an educational tool for our clients and partners. Although we don’t expect our clients and partners to understand the ins and outs of web development, we want to provide them access to the information necessary to understand the environmental and industry factors that impact their websites. What we do is not magic or a secret, this isn’t KFC. We value information and education, not only obtaining it but also disseminating it.

Seems like every time we build a website with you, I take away a useful lesson about development that I can apply as we’re designing our next project. And now the world will be able to access those kernals of knowledge … no more best kept secret.

Congratulations on the beautiful new site!
